| Property taxes are regressive, especially on homeowners with limited or fixed incomes, and fuel a "ratable chase" that negatively impacts quality of life issues. Systemic change must be addressed either through a constitutional convention or a special legislative session. I have cosponsored bills to do so. The influence of campaign contributions in the awarding of government no-bid contracts known as "pay to play" must be curbed. The confidence of the public in government must be restored and enhanced. Campaign reform of "pay to play" will be a start. |
